KGKG is an ARIA top 40 chart, Canberra based and born, Urban-Pop artist. With the imminent release of his debut solo album, KG has spent the past couple of years building himself as a solo artist and working on his canon of material. During the course of his short solo career, KG has performed with artists such as Wynter Gordon, Bruno Mars, Brian McFadden, Jason Derulo, Jessica Mauboy, Timomatic and Guy Sebastian. His debut single, Everybody In The Club, the video for which has received much love online and on broadcasters such as MTV & Channel V, is included on KG’s first mixtape, “In My Thoughts”, which was released online in mid-July 2011. The mixtape, which features 17 tracks, majority of which are original songs, is said to be a taster of things to come.

KG is currently working with former Westlife member and Australia’s Got Talent judge, Brian McFadden, on tracks for his upcoming debut EP. Also collaborating with the pair is acclaimed American producer and songwriter, Rob Conley. Conley is known for his work with KISS, Destiny’s Child, Celine Dion, Darren Hayes and McFadden himself, amongst others. The trio will share the songwriting and production responsibilities. KG also appeared alongside McFadden performing the single, “Come Party”, on Channel 7’s Sunrise in June 2011.

Kagiso Ratlhagane, as he was known at birth, discovered his love for music and performing at a young age. Born in South Africa and raised in Canberra, KG, as he came to be known, started dancing to African rhythms as a young child with the encouragement of his musically gifted mother. At the age of nine years old, KG was entered into a talent contest at which he had to perform an African dance. Fed by the overwhelming positive response from the crowd, KG’s ambition for live performance grew. Growing up, he tried his hand at guitar and keyboard but found that making beats was more his thing. “We were too poor to afford drums so I used to just make my own beats and dance around,” says KG.
It was not until high school that KG decided to start his first hip hop group. KG, along with best friend Shaka, formed
the group KASH. The group moved to Melbourne to pursue their career and were soon signed to indie label, Nufirm Records. Their debut album, The Birth was produced by Australian R ‘n B vocalist, Israel, and was distributed by SonyBMG. The group toured Australia on the back of their successful single, Move It.
